My Holiday Recount
My Trip to Canada
Last Summer Holidays my friend and I had went to Canada.
After 25 hours on the plane we had finally landed and we were escorted to our limo that took us to Novotel Ottawa Hotel which was beautiful. As we went up to our room on the top floor we saw some amazing portraits of people.
When we opened our door it was huge and there was an amazing view of the whole city. When we finished unpacking we had gone outside for a little exploring of Ottawa. It was beautiful because there were colorful flowers everywhere.
Then it got a little bit hot so we decided to go to Jacques Cartier Park. We went ice skating, it was awesome, although I fell a couple of times, but it was still fun.
After that we went to Lorenzo's Pizzeria to get something to eat. It was delicious and after all that we had we went back to our hotel rooms and went to bed. In the morning we went down to the pool to relax.
Overall I felt happy because i got to go to my favorite country which is Canada .
Unfortunately I had to come back to New Zealand and go to school but Canada will always be my favorite country in the world.

When I first walked into parliament I was so grateful to be in the place where all the ministers all over New Zealand come and debate issues and make the laws. I have learn t that to be in parliament you have to work long hours and your job looks looks pretty easy but from up close it involves a lot sacrifice and long hours. I just want to say thank you for giving up you time to speak to us and answer out questions. It was inserting to know about your job and things you do for our community
Thank you again for the opportunity to visit the Beehive and go into the Chambers where decisions are made.
Yours sincerely

Tamaki Intermediate school
Room 8
Dear Mrs Baker
Hi my name is Aluat and I am 12 years old and I come from Kenya and it is my pleasure to tell you all about my favorite caregiver James from Pakuranga Children's Health Camp.
James comes from Africa, He has brown eyes and short black hair. His hobbies are to tell jokes and do magic tricks. He also works in A dorm with the younger boys.
James is always funny because he makes me and everyone else laugh. He always says,” the smiles coming to you face, come, on spit it and we will all start laughing”. He is the most hilariuos person that i know. The anther funny thing is when he does the haka and then he does his magic trick but I can't tell you it’s our little secret. It is also funny when we play “grammars green undies” and we all start laughing.
James is helpful with everything and everyone and when you are sad he will make you happy. He gives up his personal time to work with us and he stays cool when we’re naughty in the dining room and he's always happy too.
I think that James deserves the prize because he is may not be my dad but he is and extraordinary person and he gives up time to work with the kids at Pakuranga Children's Health Camp so that’s why James should win this Caught Being Good “Caregiver”
Yours sincerely

It's time for a Book Review
Title: Justin Bieber: First Step 2 My Story
Author: Robe Coplin
Setting: The story takes place in Canada and Atlanta.
Story Plot: The story is all about how a young boy's life changes and even though there are ups and downs he never gives up and always keeps his faith.
What is the author’s message? To show how a young boy's life changes and his steps to his career, success and a new life.
How does the main character change from the beginning to the end of the story? He has music videos on YouTube and now they are viewed all over the world. At the beginning no one knew him but now everyone knows him.
Would you recommend reading this book? Why? I say everyone should read this book because it encourages you to follow your dreams and never give up and as Justin Bieber says, “ NEVER SAY NEVER”.

Aluat's doing the 40hr Famine
The 40 hour famine is when kids all over the world sign up to help kids in Niger and Mali. The reason why I am doing the 40 hour famine is because when I was little and living in Kenya I didn't have that much things. Now that I am living in New Zealand I have everything I always wanted like a good education. Did you know that 40 dollars can help up to seven kids and that can make a big difference to their lives. The 40 hour famine is all about not eating for 40 hours and you are sponsored for every hour and people can give you as much money as they want. This is my first time experience and I hope I cope.

Cool To B Me?
As part of are DARE program we had to do a COOL 2 B ME poster. We had to write positive things about ourselves. I enjoyed doing this because people can now know all the wonderful things about me and what my goals are and what I like. I got to think about the things and people that are important to me. I also shared my hobbies. These are reasons why I enjoyed doing COOL 2 B ME.

How do tsunamis occur?
LI: I am learning to write an explanation
Introduction
A tsunami is a series of waves that comes speeding on to the coastline.
How and why a tsunami starts?
A tsunami is caused by an underwater earthquake, the primary cause of a tsunami. It lifts up the sea floor then drops back down and it creates huge waves that speed up to 500 mph.
What happens next?
The water rushes on to the coastline and it can destroy houses, buildings and anything that in its way.
What happens after?
Usually after a tsunami everything could be destroyed and dozens of injured people and peoples' belongings floating in the water on the roads.
Conclusion
Tsunami usually happens near coastlines and islands.

DARE REFLECTION
“Dare to make a Choice” For the last couple of days Constable Taina has been coming to our class talking to all the students about drugs and how harmful drugs can be. She had told us that there are drugs that are good but she had told us that if you misuse them then they can be harmful.. Did you know that if you are caught with these drugs there are consequences. There is jail, community work or fines. She also spoke to us about Diversion for under 18 yr olds..
